Suicide Bomber Strikes with TNT Gas in Iraq

Violence continued in Iraq on Friday with a suicide bomber ramming a truck loaded with TNT and chlorine gas into a police checkpoint in Ramadi, the capital of Anbar province, killing 27 people and wounding 30.

Meanwhile, twelve Coalition troops were killed in shootings and roadside bombings this week in and around Baghdad.

Suicide car bombings and chlorine bomb attacks are now al Qaeda trademarks. This was the ninth chlorine attack over the past two months in Anbar.

Yesterday, a US Army Black Hawk helicopter with a crew of nine made a hard landing south of Baghdad without casualties. It is not yet known whether the helicopter was shot down.

In the southern city of Basra, four British soldiers and their interpreter were killed yesterday when Shiite militia gunmen ambushed their vehicle in an attack which also included the use of explosively formed penetrators (EFPs), armor-piercing devices designed and manufactured in Iran.
